Advantages of Solar Energy
Here's to the Advantages of Solar Energy.
To peace of mind, independence and the environment, all of which are issues on many of our minds today.
|
In all of solar energy's history the advantages have never been as bountiful.
Solar panels are becoming more efficient and smaller at the same time and that's great news. Greater efficiency and lower cost are the things that will bring solar energy into the mainstream.
The more politically and environmentally unstable our global situation becomes the brighter the advantages of solar energy shine. A solar power home can avoid being in the line of fire over fuel costs and availability while benignly providing clean fuel for it's occupants for nearly half a century.
There's no question that a major shift in the fuels we use must occur and just look at the advantages of using solar energy.
Solar power pros and cons
Financial Advantages of Solar Energy
- Cost of Fuel ~
The fuel is free and the source is unlimited.
- Maintenance ~
Little to no maintenance is required.
- No Fuel Taxes ~
Our governments have yet to figure out a way to tax sunshine.
I'm sure they're working on it though.
- Home Equity ~
Although you can take a solar system with you when you move, it will increase the value of the home if you leave it.
Environmental Advantages of Solar Energy
- Sun is a Renewable resource ~
A renewable energy source that just keeps right on shinin' no matter how much we collect.
- Environmentally friendly ~
The use of solar energy produces no emissions.
- No Burning of Fossil Fuels ~
(or digging for them either)
General Advantages of Solar Energy
-
Blackout protection:
Solar can continue functioning in a blackout (if you have a battery bank).
- Odour Free ~
No smelly by-products are produced as a result of solar energy use.
- No Moving Parts ~
Panels will quietly collect energy for 40 plus years and manufacturers aren't afraid to back them up with 20 to 25 year warranties.
- Remote locations ~
This is where solar shines. Cabins, sailboats, RV's, now we're talking solar. It's our main source of power when we live on our sailboat.
- Independence ~
Solar can free us from being dependent on volatile nations for fuel.
- Self Sufficiency ~
Terrorism, pandemic, hurricane and all manner of calamity threaten as fuel prices climb to an unknown pinnacle. Who isn't wondering about the alternatives?
One solar system owner we know claims that he's been phoned by his neighbors on more than one occasion to ask if his power was out when the neighborhood had experienced a power outage. Once he was sitting at home watching an important game while the rest of the neighborhood was in darkness. And he didn't even know it.
Solar Energy History is a tale thousands of years long and we're likely to witness it's overdue triumph in our lifetimes.
I Have an Idea.
It's just a simple idea from a lowly steward of this earth,
here it is......If we have to change our source of fuel eventually anyway (and we do) why don't we do it before we alter the earth and her atmosphere beyond redemption.
As I said it's just a simple idea from a passenger on this bus.
As energy prices soar skyward and environmental issues loom; clean, free, solar energy rises steadily toward the top of the heap....again. Looks like maybe it's here to stay this time.
The renewable energy advantages of solar power make it a viable solution for the future.
